By air from the Amado Nervo airport in Tepic.
By land: Tepic- Boca de Camichín 97.6 km in the southern part. Mazatlán- El Novillero 181 Km, northern part of the reserve.
Tepic - Embarcadero Isla de Mexcaltitan 93.2 Km. Highway 15D. - Transportation facilities
Buses to the main towns of Santiago Ixcuintla, Tuxpan, Rosamorada, Tecuala and Acaponeta. From there, there are cabs and colectivos to move between the communities in the reserve. The roads are good, but the number and frequency of transportation is not.

There are no trails. Most of the transportation within the reserve is through lagoons and estuaries to observe birds and mangroves.

Every day of the year, 24 hrs.
Tourist areas such as Mexcaltitán Island and adjacent beaches are generally visited between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
